The linked article is a little disturbing to me for several reasons.

One-

She was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes three years ago yet she continued her cooking show which promotes unhealthy food choices.

Two-

“Now I’m not recommending this, but if you don’t have those genes working against you, you could gain weight and not exercise and your blood sugar would stay normal,” Goland said.

This is irresponsible, if he's "not recommending it" then he shouldn't say it.

Three-

The author seems to make light of a deadly disease that is clearly a consequence of (except genetic cases) bad diet and lack of exercise. I don't know if it was intentional but the sources she uses also seem to make light of Diabetes.

She should have come out with this when she was diagnosed, not when she was backed into a corner. She reaped her show's profits while advocating an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. If she had come out three years ago when she was diagnosed she could have done untold good in terms of public service messages.

Thanks, Paula Deen.

Nobody gets Type 2 diabetes by exercising and eating a healthy diet. It's going to be rather amusing when she eventually loses a foot...
